How to Stop Live Facebook Notification

How to Stop Live Facebook Notification : It can be useful finding out when friends are broadcasting live on Facebook, but unfortunately — depending on your friends, of course — there is a good chance they won’t be broadcasting something so interesting you’ll want to drop whatever you’re doing to watch there and then.

Facebook will alert you when someone is live, but like any notification, you can disable this so you won’t be alerted when Dave takes a motorbike ride in the rain, or Ellie’s children perform an out-of-tune rendition of “Let it go” from Frozen.

All you need to do to disable the live notification is this:

  • Open Facebook, and tap the down triangle next to the padlock.
  • Select ‘Settings’.
  • Select ‘Notifications’ on the left.
  • Select ‘On Facebook’.
  • At the bottom you’ll see a ‘Live videos’ option. Change the setting from ‘On’ to ‘All off’.

How to Turn Off Facebook Live Notifications

Like most Facebook annoyances, the fix is pretty easy to apply if you know where they tucked the setting away. While logged into your Facebook account click on the menu arrow located in the upper right corner of the top navigation bar and select “Settings”, as seen below.

  1. Look for the “Notifications” entry on the left hand navigation column. Click it.
  2. Within the “Notifications” menu, click on the “Edit” link next to “On Facebook” at the top of the list.
  3. Scroll down in the rather lengthy notifications menu until you see “Live Videos” near the bottom.
  4. Click on the dropdown box beside “Live Videos” and change the default “On” to “All Off”.

The change is immediate and from this point forward you should no longer receive notifications that a live stream has started.

That’s all there is to it. With a little notification menu housekeeping, you can go back to the relative silence and order that proceeded the introduction of Facebook Live.
